Common Rejection Reasons & How to Fix

📛
Name mismatch — Aadhaar vs Land Records
Spelling difference between Aadhaar name and Patta/Chitta. Even one letter difference causes rejection.
✅ Fix: Correct land records at Revenue Department OR update name in Aadhaar at nearest Aadhaar centre. Both must match exactly.
🏦
Bank account not linked with Aadhaar (NPCI)
Bank account must be mapped to Aadhaar in NPCI database for DBT to work. Many old accounts are not mapped.
✅ Fix: Visit your bank branch with Aadhaar → Request Aadhaar-Bank account seeding (NPCI linking). Takes 2–3 days to activate.
📱
eKYC not completed
Most common reason for payment stoppage for existing beneficiaries since 2022.
✅ Fix: Complete eKYC at pmkisan.gov.in → Farmer Corner → eKYC using OTP. Or visit CSC centre for biometric eKYC.
📋
Land records not updated / in dispute
Land records may show old owner's name or be under dispute at Revenue Department.
✅ Fix: Update land records at taluk/tehsil office. Get mutation done if recently inherited land. Carry Aadhaar + sale deed + death certificate if inherited.
💰
Income tax return filed by family member
If any member of the farmer's family (self, spouse, or dependent child) has filed income tax return, the whole family is ineligible.
✅ Fix: If ITR was filed but income is below taxable limit, you may still be rejected. Review eligibility criteria at pmkisan.gov.in.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am a farmer but I rent out my land — am I eligible?+
The scheme is primarily for landowners whose names appear in land records. If you own agricultural land (even if you rent it out), you are generally eligible — because eligibility is based on land ownership, not active cultivation. Tenant farmers (who cultivate but don't own) are eligible in some states that have included them, but the primary scheme covers landowners.
My father passed away and land is now in my name — how to update PM-Kisan?+
First update land records to your name at the Revenue/Taluk office (mutation process). Then register fresh on PM-Kisan portal using your Aadhaar and updated land records. Old beneficiary account (father's) cannot be transferred — new registration is needed with your details. Carry: Death certificate, legal heir certificate, updated Patta showing your name.
Can I register at CSC centre instead of doing it myself online?+
Yes. CSC (Common Service Centre) — available in every panchayat and village — can help you register for PM-Kisan. Take all documents: Aadhaar, Patta/Chitta, bank passbook. Registration service at CSC is free — do not pay anyone for PM-Kisan registration. If someone charges you, it is illegal.
I received PM-Kisan payments for 2 years but suddenly it stopped — why?+
Most common reasons: (1) eKYC not completed — check and complete immediately. (2) Bank account/Aadhaar NPCI mapping expired or changed. (3) Land records updated showing ineligibility. (4) Income tax return filed by family member. Check your status at pmkisan.gov.in → Beneficiary Status to see the reason shown.
Is PM-Kisan different from State government farmer schemes in Tamil Nadu?+
Yes. PM-Kisan is a Central Government scheme (₹6,000/year). Tamil Nadu has its own separate state schemes for farmers. You can receive PM-Kisan AND Tamil Nadu state schemes simultaneously — they are separate programmes. Do not confuse them. PM-Kisan registration is at pmkisan.gov.in; state scheme registrations are at respective state portals.
